What is a QR code?

QR stands for Quick Response, referring to the instant access to information hidden in the code. As for the technical definition, the QR code is two-dimensional barcode variation, best known from the product packaging. It was developed for the automotive industry in order to optimize the logistic process and it was soon widely accepted in mobile technology.

What is the difference between barcode and QR code?

QR codes have gained popularity because of the open source technology, available to everyone. Above all, barcodes have less data capacity and low fault tolerance, while QR code is known for its minimal design and high data capacity. Also, they can be read in 360 degrees, from any direction, thus eliminating any interference and negative effects from backgrounds.
